Stego Programs?

I'm wondering, what kinds of things will i need to start the stego missions. I've solved the third mission, but i know that program will not help me with the other missions. Ive downloaded S-tools as well but that does not help. If I know what programs to use i think i will be fine with these missions, so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I used:

• A hex editor
• MS Paint
• Image Editor (Something like Photoshop)

And I wrote a program to help with one of them... What's more important is your ability to notice patterns / inconsistencies.
