Opening a .vbs file in Javascript

ok, im trying to make a external file open in JavaScript, does anyone know the code?
i asked one of my friends this same question and all we got was:
$this->connect('start.vbs');
it comes up as a syntax error

yes im a noob, i know, but help would be appreciated

i found a way, i use batch files but i dont want to use batch files, im still trying to find out still, but no luck still...

Javascript is a web-browser interpreted language, and as such an html file with javascript can only access (using ajax) files on the server that are accessible to the browser. For help on ajax I would recommend the tutorial here: http://w3schools.com/ajax/default.asp
