Ventrilo is a voice communication software, similar to Skype and Teamspeak.
You may download Ventrilo HERE. Ventrilo is definitely required to participate and listen to the live lecture. It's NOT mandatory to have a microphone, so you may ask questions on IRC.

EDIT: My bad, didn't see the post before Monica's.
Sorry. Delete if you feel the need to, I can't see an option to delete my own post, else I would.

No such thing as the "best" if you are wondering. However, I'll provide a list of clients below:

- mIRC
- XChat
- IRSSI
- IceChat

I personally use chatzilla. Simple and powerful enough for meh.

Chatzilla is a Firefox add-on, in which I did not include in my short list in case if there were any IE users. The list provided were of applications.

Don't forget the lecture is on FRIDAY, 10/1 @ 8:00 PM EST!

I thought I'd mention it because if someone does use Firefox they don't need to download and install a brand new app and they won't miss out on anything.

Sorry if this question doesn't belong here, but I can't find anywhere the IRC log of the previous lecture. Where can I find it?

It's been a while since I've posted....I had a long (homeless) month.

Anyway, will the lecture be recorded? I wish I could attend, but I'm moving into a new apartment. Good luck, regardless.
