Use the last form. Think carefully about the unix file structure.

Hello everyone!

This is my first post, since it was pretty easy to figure every level out, sometimes by reading some hints, sometimes by myself.
I also passed level9, but I'm not quite sure why did the code I wrote have effect.
I'm going to go and try to solve level 10, but in the mean time, I would like some explanation from someone.
The problem is, for some reason, I can't PM.

Thanks in advance,
Briza.

You need at least two forum posts to PM
"Well it isn't my fault. I shouldn't have been allowed to do something to crash it." "No, you shouldn't have been allowed to buy a computer in the first place"

This is my first post and should be a simple question...I figured out how to get through both 8 and 9 but I don't understand how you are supposed to know which directory you are currently in? Like on 8, when you use the ls command and get the shtml files, how do you know what directory those files are in? And in 9, how do you know how high you are supposed to transverse if you don't know where you are starting (i did it by trial and error)? Thanks for the help.

If you pay attention to the URL, you can figure out what your present working directory is and what directory you need to list, on both missions, you can PM me if you want a more detailed explanation, but I'm currently busy and I won't be able to give you a timely response.

I still don't know if I'm supposed to put the command in the password box because I can't get anything working.

Re-read the hint given on the mission's page. It practically tells you where to try your command.

oh gosh, took me so long and that was all because I didn't really want to put in the right part of that command. Luckily, this guy (view below) made me do it, so thanks, I guess :)

joeyzaza82 wrote:This one took me longer than it should. It is easy, and defience gives a good hint when he mentions how useful it would be if you knew where the file was located (which obviously, if you read the description in basis9, you do). The best advice I could give is not to look up directory transversal, because you will only get lost in a sea of possible symbol combinations that are not necessarry to complete the challenge. I would almost go as far as saying forget about what you learned about directory transversal in mission 8, because this one is much less complecated, and just try and get to the file you want using the unix commands you learned from lesson 8, and the common sense approach you would use to get to any file you would want to open. Remember, you already know the pathway......

Alright, I am completely stuck. I understand that I need to use something with SSI in it. But there's nothing that I can find on Mission 9 that allows me to put in SSI commands. And people keep saying to look back on Mission 8. I know there's a box with SSI commands on Mission 8. Should I use copypasta and bring it Mission 9? Or should I edit it a little?

Use mission 8 to beat 9.
The glass is neither half-full nor half-empty; it's merely twice as big as it needs to be.
