Well, evidently I'm overlooking something very basic. The first post refers to http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/howto/ssi.html, but apparently that doc gives for granted that '<' and '>' are already unescaped, then it goes straight to the SSI directive syntax.

Halberdier wrote:LoGiCaL__, thank you very much for taking the trouble to answer me. My issue was perhaps more psychological than technical (even if still a bit puzzling to me).
After reading the SSI command syntax, I tried some incomplete commands, just to see the outcome. Entering a single '<', for example, this is HTML-escaped into <. This caused me to block, because I imagined that it would prevent the commands from being interpreted.
By entering a complete command, instead, it is parsed correctly, and I eventually completed the mission. So probably the escape function is in the pipeline after the SSI interpretation.
(Also, I noticed that entering the word "script" into Stephanie's box, it is used somehow and disappears from the name.)

skwh wrote:Ok. I'm sorry, but i'm seriously stuck. I've read half of the posts here and they all say the same thing about the ls command, etc. whenever i enter any kind of SSI into the box i get the "So please manipulate your code so that it is a little more pertaining to the level" message. People talk about ls, directories and filesystems, but I don't get it. I type not spoiler but really close it says that i need to change my code. I haven't even gotten a list of .shtml files yet. What am i doing wrong?
