Geeezzz, you don't know how happy i am. i just solved it. i thought at first, wtf is this? i've hacked several accounts, learned to set up RAT, but never seen anything like this. now i understand why the ascii table is important.

Okay, I'm having a troglodyte moment; I want to put my fist through my screen.

I 'can get' all characters with the exception to the 2nd to last character; the equal sign. The only way I can get the equal sign to manifest is to use an additional character which messes up the last few characters of the encrypted string.

I personally couldn't figure out how to decode the algorithm by using the ASCII chart; I simply used trial and error. i.e; I figured out that I had to use an 8 character string to decipher each character (respective to placement) [with the exception of the equal sign].

A 3 or 5 character string will not give me the same values (respective to placement) as my 8 character string will (respective to placement), of course minus the remaining characters. This really ticked me off!

I have read that the chart is mainly for determining the order of the characters, but that doesn't tell me much as it relates to the layout of a qwerty keyboard, if it has any relation at all.

I don't expect much more 'insight' than "The ASCII chart dogma", but can someone at least tell me if my approach is a thumbs up or a thumbs down?

Thanks.

it's easy enough to see what is going on here. While the cipher isn't doing the same thing to each character in the input, it's doing the next easiest thing to doing the exact same thing.

PM me if you need to; I don't want to give too much of this mission away. Frankly though, I don't think you should need to. I pulled up this page and literally forgot everything about this challenge, looked at the reference to the ASCII chart, pulled one up, calc'ed the difference between the ciphertext and a calculated input, and got it done in about five minutes.

Okay, to all the other newbies! I figured it out! ;)
I personally think I had some strange stuff happening with my browser if you take into consideration my earlier post (I'm not crazy! -shaddup-).

The ASCII chart is useful (humbly accepting) if you use basic math operations (I don't think this is too much of a give-away) in conjunction with logical deduction. HOWEVER! "IF" for example you ever yield results such as xx'X' and xx'?'x where the contrasting value is different based upon the total number of characters utilized; then you have something 'henky' going on with your browser.

NO MATTER THE 'TOTAL' # OF CHARACTERS, THE 'VALUE' OF EACH UNIQUE CHARACTER RESPECTIVE TO ORDER OF PLACEMENT WITHIN THE STRING SHALL ALWAYS BE THE SAME. Use this as a RULE.

Hey I tried to take everyone's advice and use a ASCII Table table but I can't seem to grasp how the table works can someone illuminate me?

Thanks Deathen :)

Google is usually pretty good with that. :geek:

So you've read through ALL the other pages in this thread to try to understand this challenge?

Ya I skimmed through them but it's OK I'll just do guess and test :)
