Basic Mission 10

Post by limdis on Wed Jan 01, 2014 2:32 pm
([msg=78690]see Basic Mission 10[/msg])

Requirements:
Javascript, Cookies.

Network Security Sam has gotten smarter. This time there is no script to exploit and no password file to be found; it’s time to learn about Cookies (not the delicious kind). If you took the time to learn a bit about Javascript and Javascript Injections then this shouldn't be much of a challenge for you. Just like the last Javascript injection challenge, this one can also be easily solved with various tools. Don’t fall into that temptation!

Hint: view your cookie for the login page; what do you see?

Have fun >:)
Good luck!

Nine times out of ten that means you want the answer given to you.

We have this thread open for a reason. If you are stuck, ask questions here without spoiling the mission. That way we can answer the question once and everyone can benefit.

I don't spoilers too :-) I'm here to learn, nothing else. And I have been learning useful stuff. I was just looking for hints.

And by private messaging I meant mentorship

You aren't using the hints that have already been provided.

No. If someone wants to take you under their wing they will contact you. It is a lot of work. I recently spent 3 hours assisting someone through some missions and they quickly grew dependent on me expanding on hints and immediately stopped progressing when I cut them off. It is up to you to do the research. Then, and only then, if you get stuck you may ask questions and we will gladly help. There are no umbilical cords here.

I used the javascript console in FF, is that allowed? When I tried to use the address bar, I get errors, for example (alert is not defined).

What do you mean, is it allowed? Did it work? If so, then you passed the level.

I don't see the mission clue on the page when I get to this mission. It just tells me to enter a password to access level 10. Is that normal or am I missing something?

Right. I see the first post. I'm asking if the page is designed to not display that information.
