It's a lot simpler than you might expect. Step away from it for a bit then come back with a fresh head. You'll get it :ugeek:
"The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear..."
"Drink all the booze, hack all the things."

Brand spanking new guys hehe, 1-7 was a relative breeze.

Alright, been working on 8 for 2 hours now.

Im losing my sh*t :P

I understand the UNIX commands, i keep trying to put in the exec and the cmd and the ls with the brackets and ! and what not ( i tried to make that as vague as possible). But the PHP script she gave us keeps returning with

Your name contains 31 characters.

I tried

All with that same resutl above.
Can someone please PM me or reply to this or something. I need some serious direction on this lol.
In the meantime I'm going to walk away from the computer, give my brain a break before it shoots itself.

My apologies on the spoilers. Is it possible for SSI to be disabled on my laptop, or browser? Or am I just entering a wacked up SSI command?

Instead of answering your question, I'll ask one back: what does SSI stand for? If you know that and what that implies, the rest should be easy to answer for you. (If that didn't answer your question, here's a hint: your laptop is the client)

If you are trying to use . . . to solve the challenge, you are on the right track: but I have limited the commands allowed to ones relevant towards finding the . . . for security reasons . . . So please manipulate your code so that it is a little more pertaining to the level.

I understand that this is an extremely basic level, but as someone new to Hacking in its entirety, this made me so happy! :D

SO. I have been working at this for a little while now.

I got the list of shtml files, but can't seem to open ANY of them.
My immediate reaction was to open using the normal methods for opening server based files, as hinted by D1str0

d1str0 wrote:How do you normally view a file on a web server? How are you currently viewing the mission page?

However it is not working for me. Instead I am getting a "The requested URL <spoiler> was not found on this server." and I don't know what to do. Am I doing something wrong? Or is the server having issues?

Also, can someone explain the concepts of the file directory? I am not sure what to do with
/var/www/hackthissite.org/html/missions/basic/8/

Thanks!

EDIT:

I got it figured out but I have a question, although Im sure it would be a spoiler, so who can I pm about it? thanks!
