Don't rack your brains too much. We aint' there yet!! You'll need it later. As far as I know there is a tutorial for SSI at the Apache website. Google for it, it has all you want

ok...im stumped. every timei enter an ssi command it tells me that i cant use them because they are blocked. i got it to show the shtml files once but now i dont remember what i did to do it.(i realize that that sounds idiotic but its true) i have read through just about every page in the forum and have read articles on both ssi commands and unix commands. if i understand correctly i need to use both to find the password.

if anything i type is a spoiler edit it please, i dont want to give away the answer even unknowingly

It may be an issue with spacing. Also, you don't want to list the files in the current directory because the password file isn't there so if you get a list of more than just a few files, you are not in the right place and need to use directory transversal to get to the right place.

okay this was the page that helped me most:
http://www.htmlite.com/SSI009.php

but remember, we're not looking for a specific file so you change that to your command to list the files

look towards the bottom of this page for further clues
http://www.computerhope.com/unix/uls.htm

might be too big of a hint but you surely need if if you're reading this far into a thread?

Ahh, this one threw me for a loop for a good while before I figured it out. Definitely check out the page the mod posted about SSI and for those that got to the .shtml pages you are very close I urge you to take a look at: http://www.computerhope.com/unix/uls.htm again and really think about what command you need!
