Being a secure adult is an oder of magnitude more important then having some one apologize for correcting you. You should be thanking people for correcting you. Argument is at the forefront of all knowledge. It's impossible to learn without the presence of conflict.
If you think some one may be wrong when correcting you, debate it out with them. Right or wrong you'll learn new shit in the process. Conflicted learning is _almost_ no different then direct application of the socratic method.
It is important to stand your grown and learn shit like a fucking grown man as oppose to crying to administrative figure heads for repercussion. Now, grab your nuts son and interact like a man, not like a child crying to his mother at the playground because some other kid got on the slide.
