Re: A database of virus files?

I'll definitely add it to my arsenal. I use the desktop version as one of my tools already, so a live CD version sounds excellent. I went with the EICAR test file to test, after doing some reading up on how the AV companies test. Was hoping to get my VBox into a bit of a "real world" scena...

A database of virus files?

I'm starting a computer repair shop, and want to find the best anti virus tool to use. I've been using Malware Bytes for a while, and I love it, the problem is I want a Live CD, so I don't have to install it on every client computer to test. So I created a couple Live CDs of different linux-based AV...

Help with Android development

I'm looking for linkage to a tutorial or site that will show me how to use the Android's wireless device to find and subsequently connect to a wireless network. Does anyone have any idea where I could find this information? My googling has turned up nothing.-- Sun Oct 16, 2011 4:45 pm --Found it sho...

Re: Ports

You have to be the coolest noob I've ever seen. +1 For the hacking mindset :ugeek: Why thank you. Not entirely a n00b, to be fair, just completely new to hacking from the server/ports side of things. My focus has always been on browser-side exploits, because I work building websites for a living. C...

Re: If the government were to seize my computer...

I actually just spent most of my day today encrypting a new external hard drive using TrueCrypt. I like it because first I encrypted the entire drive, using both a key and a password. It has a GUI that makes it rather easy to do. You have to make sure that the drive is empty of any files that you wa...

Re: Internet Kill-Switch

Lets face it, any "attack" that we get from an opposing country will be targeted at shutting down our internet. This legislation is, well, counter productive because it's flat doing exactly what they will want. Cut off our internet, you cut of business as we know it these days.

Re: If the government were to seize my computer...

That's probably the best way to do it, if you absolutely need access to files across the net. Still, I'd be worried about my server's connection dropping (But that's due mostly to my ISP that can randomly drop dead for a day or two, though the chances of it happening when I actually need something ...

Re: If the government were to seize my computer...

I will never trust the cloud for exactly that reason. They encrypted it, I'm pretty damn sure they can decrypt it. I guess if you encrypt it yourself before sending it out to the cloud would work fairly well, but regardless, the catchline "we encrypt[protect] your data" is untrustworthy i...

Re: If the government were to seize my computer...

I work from home, so I keep a 1.5 terabyte external hard drive encrypted to store backup files for my websites. I keep it encrypted for the personal information on the SQL dumps. My hard drive isn't encrypted, but that's not for any reason except I couldn't be arsed hitting the setting to do it. I u...

Re: me and my friend are in same network

My favorite party trick is to jump on my roommate's (or my wife's, as the case is now) computer while they're gone and setup a remote desktop server. Then, I'll randomly take my laptop to an area where they aren't able to see the screen, connect to their PC, and move their mouse around. Granted, thi...
