The social idea on the underground world of hackers, crackers, and phreakers is that we a band of low-life, Disorganized criminals who are out for self gain and profiting Ideals. This idea pushed upon the world and Forced into he brains of the populace by the media coverage of the Freelance hackers that attack Businesses and Government agencies doing mischievous activities that harm the well being of the country at large. But those are the "Old School" Hackers of the days where the internet was still crawling from the Cesspool of the Technological World. The thing that most people associate hackers with are the large scale assaults on the Govt. from counter-Intelligence of other countries, or Stealing information from your home computer or a business, Or the Damaging and lose of information done by the "New age teenakers" such as Mafiaboy, and Pr0methus Who's goals were to cause damage to sites that went against there views or to cause havoc. It is acts like those that the word "Hackers" has a social Distain, and place them as the stereotypical Scoundrels sitting in a dark room for days at a time Reeking havoc on the worlds information highway But let me be the first to tell the world, the ethics of the old are thrown out, and a Underground revolution, with brand new ideas, and a new conscious is now emerging from the burned out ruins of the past Movement to Exploit security holes and webpage defacement. This new army of the net is building every day, and infinite supply of Weapons at its disposal, and enormous amounts of man power to back it. This army is not out to destroy the world, nor to deny any one of there Rights or freedoms. But to push forward the new dawn of knowledge and intellect unlike any that has ever been seen before. Hackers, an army armed with Mouse and keyboard in one hand, and The Vast, Endless well of information just Ripe for the taking in the other. The Ideals of the first great "White Hat" hackers is reborn in a new light, with added Ideals and new Faces. But as my point remains, in the world of hackers, there is no right, there is no wrong. There is not good nor is there evil, there are no "White Hats", there are no "Black Hats" there are simply this: "There are DeProfiters, and Profiteers. Those who hack for the Money and those who hack for the Sheer thrill of it." Plainly it means, it does not matter if you are a "DeProfiter" or a "Profiteer" you can help with showing how to fix Security in a system for the pay off of money or just because you feel the need to help and its gives you a rush when you break the code. or you can do it because some one paid to attack a site or because you just want to. Hackers do what they do not for the want or need to Destroy or damage; they do it for the Excitement of being able to have all the worlds' information at the click of a mouse. Listen here boys and girls where out there and where not alone, each day our numbers grow, with every computer that are turned on we gain a fellow Soldier in our war of Free Knowledge and Expression. We laugh at the face of Denial from the Agencies such as the FBI or the CIA. Here is a warning to all of you who think you can stop us: "If it's out there, we can get it. There is no system protected enough, there is no firewall good enough to stop us. We control the world, we control the internet, and we are the new gods of the world. For every Hacker taken down by you, 20 more stand ready in there place. Were out there, were ready, Come and get us.....We dare you!" Sincerely, Phant0ms

That last part about hackers ready for anything is a true fact. Think about it, new security updates and things are handed out every day and we can still yet find vulnrabilities within them, meaning we ARE ready for anything.

Brilliant Article, it makes perfect sense to me aswell especially the way that big software companies like microsoft try to blame us and label us with the name hacker. Even though it is the security crackers, or script kiddies as they are well known. Who are the real threat to their personal sense of insecurity. I really love this article it is the best.

i agree completely. the idea has the wrong idea of what hackers are. movies and video games are making a huge impression on the world and everyone thinks (besides hackers, that is), that hackers are evil. As mentioned by Phant0ms, it is the crackers who are "evil." Don't bring the hackers into the story. We are just here trying to learn something new and the world just happens to hate us. I say we change that. And i completely agree with that last sentence. The world cannot keep up with the number of hackers that are growing each and every day. Even if they catch one of us, there will be probably more than 1000 hackers ready to take their place.

The world will soon tremble before the might of hackers!

As a "newb" (yah, im new, got a problem with that?), I totally agree with this article. I, recently just picking up books and online
articles on javascript and php, am looking forward to joining a community such as this one, that does not hack becuase its "cool" or for money, but for the fun of having the world of the internet at your fingertips, and also unlocking the power of cyberspace. Real hackers are not evil, just looking for a way to do everything, Everywhere, and at anytime. May the hacker community live on no matter what. So I say, come at us, anybody who thinks the hacker underground shall be defeated. And we will stand and fight until you are defeated or we all die. And that will never happen.

I agree with evrything u say man,I personaly got all my training from Scanning the web for stuff on maniplation and information gathering and by doing so i have learned the ways of the UnderDogs and have became one of the many who are appearing across this place of Bad times and Controling nations. The world needs to not think of us a threat but a resource for the future of there country and the world. The MOre of Us there Are The more the knowledged. I also agree That we were branded as the dogs we are and forced to the undergrounds of the world by the forced rulz and regulations of a so called nation.

Reminds me of anonymous lol, only they say 10 or so will take their place :).

People have always been afraid of the unknown and always will be, but who knows maybe one day they'll know hackers for what they are.

@the 2 guys above me: You probably won't find people to teach you, generally the idea is that you learn yourself by reading tutorials (on this site, on w3schools,..)
Also one of my favorite sites for ebooks is computer-books.us ;-)
