Over the last few days, I have seen numerous articles waiting moderation that are more less asking for help or spoilers. This is NOT what article submissions are for. If you wish to get help, try reading the current articles, or head over to the forums Critical Security
Submitting an Article
If you have a good article planned, written and edited then please feel free to submit an article. But please make sure there is none similar already existing. If you submit an article, and it gets denied, there must have been a reason. Please do not message us complaining how much time you spent, or that you did not save a copy. That is your fault. But please, feel free to message us asking what you can do to improve or change your article, to further benefit the community.
Updating a Current Article
If you have been reading an article, and feel it could use some updates, please message the original author and ask him to update it. Do not bother asking any of the moderators, do not bother submitting the updates yourself. If you submit a copy of someone else's work, it will be declined.
Voting for an Article
Many users would rather vote an article a 1, or a 10, then actually providing an accurate score and criticism. If you vote a 1, or a 10, please provide reason. Otherwise, there is no point. Votes are only meant to give the writer an idea of what level they are writing on. So please, provide reasoning for your votes, any more critical votes will not be tolerated. When voting on an article, please base your vote around style, formatting, accuracy, citations, and overall quality. Please do not base votes on your agreement with the subject.
Article Ideas
Hackthissite Challenges- There are millions of ideas for articles out there, none of which have to do with the HTS challenges. We like to keep the HTS challenges spoiler free. Even if your article is spoiler free, it may be used with another article to form a detailed walk through. Nonetheless, we have enough.
Mathematics- Hackthissite needs mathematical articles! Some of the challenges which require encryption or encoding all derive from mathematics. How many people want to learn crypto, without understanding the concept of base 2?
Programming- Programming forms a major part of HTS, whether it is the programming challenges, the application challenges or the realistic challenges. Many things in life go much easier knowing how to program. Some cool introductory ideas are sockets, algorithms, recursion and efficiency. If you write a programming article, please make sure to provide source code, and link's to any libraries or compilers used.
Protection- As of now, we lack these type of articles. Whether it is a basic article describing installing and configuring a firewall + rules, or an in depth article describing the use of a packet sniffer to detect un-wanted access on your wireless network.
Anyways, those are just a few ideas to consider before posting an article. From now on, please refrain from posting help articles. Thank you.

this should be changed, some really well articales could have been written, just need some tweaking, but the original author has since quit. (you should allow people to submit additions to an artical, with appropriate credit given, however, they should not get cred for the stuff they did not write)
I would like to add something regarding ratings. Please give a rating related to how accurate the article is, the quality of the writing and the ideas involved, not how much you agree with the article or how well you know the author.
I see a lot of articles with rating between 9 and 10 and when I read them I see that the quality of writing is poor to mediocre, the content has been written about before and the ideas were taken straight out of a paper on securiteam.com.
THis is the best article I\'v seen. lol
Thanks for clarifying for people what HTS needs. I am SOOO sick of stupid articles about challenges (especially the JS ones)
because most state the obvious and are so close to spoiling its not even funny. I think people are more concerned with points but that cant really be changed.
I gave this article a 10, this is due to as a moderator nothing makes my day like seeing an obviously ripped article or people submitting an article that asks how to solve basic mission 5.

A really good explanation of what HTS wants. I might just go write one of my own now
